Our work with Govt. Schools in Chromepet

We are presently working with the following three Higher Secondary Schools (HSS) in and around Chromepet:

  1. Municipal HSS, Hastinapuram

  2. Govt. Boy’s HSS, Chromepet

  3. Govt. HSS, Zamine Pallavaram

Our work with these government schools consists of two broad types of activities:

A. Providing assistance to the students in their subjects of study such as Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, English. For this our Fellows from MIT visit the schools and engage with the students who have been identified by the schools. B. Conducting Computer/IT Training Programs for Class 11 and 12 students in the MIT Computer Centre Lab on Saturdays. An open-ended list of topics taken up in these classes are given here. Around 70 students from these three schools have been participating in these hands-on classes during July - Nov 2024 and July - Nov 2025, and they are given Tea/Snacks in the morning and Lunch at noon. Some snaps of the Lab classes can be seen here. The Training Programs are typically of 35-40 hours duration, and around 70 students from the three schools will received Certificates as attached.

  • Two of the MIT Alumni donors, Srividya Ramani and Deepti Pookat, with the school children undergoing Computer Training, along with the Fellows from MIT who conduct the Training - 19th July 2025 . See photos here.

  • The Concluding session for the second Computer Training Program (batch of July-Nov 2025) was held on 7th Feb 2026, with Prof. P. Jayashree ,Dean MIT, as the Chief Guest. Certificates were distributed by the Dean MIT to 6 Fellows of the Raji Foundation (3rd year UG students of MIT), and 73 school children who underwent the training program – 24 from Chromepet Boys HSS, 24 from Hastinapuram HSS and 25 from Pallavaram HS. Others who participated in the function are Prof. Anbarasu, MIT Hostel ExecutiveWarden, Prof. P Kanagasabapathy,former Dean MIT, Mr. Mohammed Kaleem, HM Govt. Boys HSS, Ms. Saraswati, AHM Hastinapuram Govt.HSS, and Ms. Subhashini, Zameen Pallavaram Govt HSS. Participants from Raji Foundation included Ms. N Shanthi, Dr. D Vidya, Prof. C N Krishnan and Mr. J Nandagopal. Some snaps from the event are available here.
