Rajalakshmi Srinivasan was an academic and an activist who retired as Professor of Economics from the Ethiraj College for Women Chennai and spent the next ten years working with the Avvai Home Orphanage and School for Girls Adyar, helping to improve the education of children from the less privileged backgrounds. The Rajalakshmi Srinivasan Memorial Foundation (Raji Foundation) was set up in her memory in 2014 to take forward her vision and work of supporting the education of children from such backgrounds. Our efforts are aimed at supporting the schools and the students at two levels: First that of helping to improve the curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular performance of children while in the school, and second enabling and assisting the children to take up careers or study programs of their choice, aptitude and abilities once they leave the school. To fulfil these goals, we work closely with the school managements, government departments, funding agencies, voluntary organisations, school alumni, etc. In order to improve the reading abilities of children from disadvantaged backgrounds, the Foundation has brought out sets of laminated four-page A-3 sized illustrated Story Cards in different languages like Tamil, English, Hindi, Kannada and Oriya – called Kathai Aruvi in Tamil, Katha Jharna in other languages and A Cascade of Stories in English. Schools from different parts of the country have been finding these cards very useful in improving the reading abilities of children in the age group 5-15 years. We make efforts to reach these cards to government schools by raising donations from individuals and institutions. While our focus is on the education of the underprivileged children, Raji Foundation has interest in all levels and aspects of education, from schools to universities, and stands for making it useful, creative and affordable to people from all backgrounds. ராஜலட்சுமி சீனிவாசன் சென்னை எத்திராஜ் மகளிர் கல்லூரியில் பொருளாதார பேராசிரியராக பணியாற்றி ஓய்வு பெற்ற கல்வியாளர் மற்றும் சமூக ஆர்வலர். தனது பணி ஓய்வுக்குப் பின்னரும் அவர் அவ்வை இல்லம் மற்றும் பள்ளியுடன் இணைந்து பொருளாதார ரீதியில் பின்தங்கிய பெண் குழந்தைகளின் கல்வியை மேம்படுத்த உதவினார். அவரது நினைவாகவும், இத்தகைய பின்னணியிலிருந்து வரும் குழந்தைகளின் கல்வியை ஆதரித்த அவரது சீரிய பணியைத் தொடரவும் ராஜலட்சுமி சீனிவாசன் நினைவு அறக்கட்டளை (ராஜி அறக்கட்டளை) 2014ஆம் ஆண்டில் நிறுவப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த அறக்கட்டளையின் முயற்சிகள் பள்ளிகள் மற்றும் மாணவர்களுக்கு இரண்டு நிலைகளில் உதவும் வண்ணம் அமைந்துள்ளன. முதலாவதாக, பள்ளிகளில் பயிலும் போதே மாணவர்களின் பாடத்திட்டம், இணை பாடத்திட்டம் மற்றும் பாடத்திட்டம் சாரா செயல்திறனை மேம்படுத்த உதவுவது. இரண்டாவதாக, பள்ளிப்படிப்பை முடித்து வெளிவரும் மாணவர்கள், தங்கள் விருப்பம், திறன் மற்றும் மனப்பாங்குக்கேற்ப தொழில் திறன்களை வளர்த்துக் கொள்ளவோ அல்லது மேற்படிப்பைத் தொடரவோ உதவுதல். இக்குறிக்கோள்களை அடைய பள்ளி நிர்வாகங்கள் , அரசு துறைகள், நிதி உதவி நிறுவனங்கள், தொண்டு அமைப்புகள் மற்றும் முன்னாள் மாணவ அமைப்புகள் இவற்றுடன் இணைந்து பணிகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்படுகின்றன. பொருளாதார ரீதியாக பின்தங்கிய பெரும்பாலான குழந்தைகளின் வாசிப்புத் திறனை மேம்படுத்த எங்கள் அறக்கட்டளை விளக்கப்படக்கதை அட்டைகளை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது. A-3 அட்டைகளில் அச்சிடப்பட்டு, லேமினேட் செய்யப்பட்ட 100 கதைகள் கொண்ட இத்தொகுப்பு தமிழ், ஆங்கிலம், ஹிந்தி கன்னடம், மராத்தி, ஒரியா ஆகிய மொழிகளில் வெளிவந்துள்ளது. இவை தமிழில் ‘கதை அருவி, ’ ஆங்கிலத்தில் ‘ A Cascade of stories,’ ஹிந்தி மற்றும் பிற மொழிகளில் 'கதா ஜர்னா ' என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகின்றன. இந்த கதை அட்டைகள் 5-15 வயது வரையிலான குழந்தைகளின் வாசிப்புத் திறனை மேம்படுத்துவதில் மிகவும் பயனுள்ளதாக இருப்பதாக நாட்டின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளில் உள்ள பள்ளிகள் மற்றும் தன்னார்வத் தொண்டு நிறுவனங்கள் தெரிவித்துள்ளன. அரசுப்பள்ளிகளில் இந்தத் தொகுப்புகள் சென்று சேரும் வண்ணம் தனிநபர்கள் மற்றும் நிறுவனங்களிடமிருந்து நிதி உதவி பெற நாங்கள் முயற்சிகள் மேற்கொள்கிறோம். பள்ளிகளில் பயிலும் குழந்தைகளின் கல்வியை மையமாக கொண்டு செயல்பட்டாலும், பள்ளிக் கல்வி முதல் பல்கலைக்கழகம் வரை ராஜி அறக்கட்டளை அனைத்து நிலைகளிலும் செயல்பட ஆர்வம் கொண்டுள்ளது. மேலும் அனைத்து பின்னணி மக்களுக்கும் பயனுள்ள, ஆக்கப்பூர்வமான கல்வி கிடைக்க செய்வதில் உறுதி பூண்டுள்ளது.ராஜி அறக்கட்டளை வருமானவரித் துறையிடமிருந்து 80-G விலக்கு மற்றும் CSR மானியங்களைப் பெறுவதற்கான தகுதிச்சான்றிதழைக் கொண்டுள்ள ஒரு பொது அறக்கட்டளை ஆகும். அலுவலகம்: 5/67 தரை தளம், 4 வது குறுக்குத் தெரு, ஸ்டேட் பேங்க்காலனி, குரோம்பேட்டை, Chennai 600 044. இணைய தளம்: www.rajifoundation.in மின்னஞ்சல்: rsmf1944@gmail.com தொலைபேசி: 044-24922113 கை பேசி: +91 9952028228 |
